15/04/2011

On the 26th of April we are excited to welcome a new teacher to our school, Manuel Ferreira. Manuel will be teaching afternoon Mysore from Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday morning Mysore & led classes.

About Manuel:
Manuel began practicing yoga as a complement to surf in 2000. For three years he studied at the Portuguese Center of Yoga (CPY) with Professor Carlos Rui (student of bks iyengar), developing his skills to teach in view of the principles of Dynamic Yoga.
in 2003 he began to practice Ashtanga Yoga with the opening of Casa Vinyasa, practicing daily with Tarik van Prehn and Isa guitana and felt that Ashtanga Yoga was his way.
Manuel has traveled every year since 2004 to India where he stays for three months in Mysore studying at the Shri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI) with Shri K Pattabhi Jois (Guruji), his daughter Saraswati and his grandson Sharath Rangaswamy.
Throughout these years he also has studied regularly with Rolf Naujokat, in Portugal and India (Goa), Tomas Zorzo, Eillen Hall, David Roche, Mark Robberds and Matt Corigliano; he taught at Casa Vinyasa, in Lisbon, first as an assistant and later as main teacher.
In 2007 he founded the Ashtanga Yoga Shala Cascais with Vera Simões, a space entirely dedicated to teaching the traditional Ashtanga Yoga.
Manuel Ferreira has been authorized in 2009 by The KPjAYI.
In 2010 he attended the teacher training program for authorized teachers in the KPJAYI with Sharath Rangaswamy.
At present he is traveling doing what he loves and does best, practicing, teaching Ashtanga Yoga and surfing.
